Poopies not puppies ...

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 22, 2009, 6:07 PM
Go into the toilet! as one young man from North London learned earlier this week.
And that applies to you, Anon Outpatient, your poopies can go in the Pilgrim hat, the toilet - not the floor, not the sink and not in wadded up towels spread around the room and a few that even made it into the trashcan. Eugh! I guess we should have known when you decided that you would not hand over your first specimen and instead decided "to do better". (facepalms)

So, I don't really have time to stop in here much anymore other than to peruse for some art to fave and clear out the old inbox. But what am I doing/have been doing in the meantime?

As noted by my previous journal I finished up my first year in my medical program with excellent grades. But school is by no means over in the summer! In about two weeks time I start my first clinical rotation. I've been assigned a very busy (from what I saw on my visit) clinical lab in a family practice. It's a small lab, well, at least in comparison to my current place of employ, but we're a hospital lab and not a clinic lab. But it looks like there will be little idle time in the four weeks I am assigned out there! It should be a fun learning experience though on the downside we are required to be on the site 40-hours a week which kind of screws me on work hours. Oh, well. I am thankfully a person who knows how to budget and squirrel away my funds.

I managed to make it do Pasadena to ostensibly attend BotCon but the insanely overpriced packages this year leaned us toward doing the Dealer Room admission price since that's all I usually end up doing at BotCons anyway. XD But the lines for anyone to get in this year were just insane, like minimum hour-long if not more wait. Eh. I like my TFs but neither Josh nor I could muster a good case to stand in line for a lengthy amount of time like that and to spend money neither of us really has for stuff we really don't need right now.

But fun was to be had! I got some wonderful Thai food, and a trip to see the fantastic new Star Trek movie. Yes, it lives up to every bit of the hype and positive reviews it has gotten. Amazing. I was quite partial to Karl Urban's1 portrayal of Dr Leonard (Bones) McCoy. XD "Quit being such a baby ...". And of course, just getting to spend time with Josh made the trip well worth it.

I did also get to fly first-class on the way back and spend a few hours at LAX's Tom Bradley International Terminal. First-class is nice, though not nice enough to warrant the extra cost. =P

After my clinical rotation is done, I am off to Florida to spend a week with Josh. Don't know exactly what the plans are but I know St Augustine is on the potential menu, including their awesome-looking Alligator Farm ([link]) - how could anyone not want to go here. I'm also rather hoping to see their Ripley's (always cheesy good fun) and some of the historical sites like the fort and the cathedral and the military medical museum. Either way, I am glad I still can manage to squeeze in travelling between work and school. :)

Also, not only does it look like Deadpool is getting a movie, but so is Jonah Hex! How awesome is that? :D

1 Some people may be more familiar with him in his role as Eomer in the LOTR trilogy, and as Caesar in the Xena TV series.

Sorry for the massively late reply. Thank you. Empress Nympho's date selection in History of the World always makes me laugh. Madeleine Kahn's voice was perfect for that role.

"No, if I digg'd up thy forefathers' graves
And hung their rotten coffins up in chains,
It could not slake mine ire, nor ease my heart"

No problem, and yes, Madeleine Kahn rocked :D

I go to bed with the undead, at night I hang around with a real wild crowd - I play my songs as the werewolves howl, 'cause all the dead cats rock past twelve o' clock.
Howdy! Thanks for the :+fav:

Go forth and die.
